Following some recent leg surgery, my elderly Dad currently has a raft of NHS / local authority supplied mobility aids. One of these aids is a stool for use by the bathroom sink. Whilst it’s very useful, it’s also a bit on the heavy side and quite cumbersome to shift around to the extent that he can’t move it himself. So, I was keen to find out if this would be a better option.
It arrives flat-packed and once removed from the box, look a wee bit daunting to build. However, most of the fiddly-looking bits and pieces relate to the wall mounted grab handle which you also receive as part of the package. Fortunately, the instructions are clear and concise and the stool itself is actually quite easy to build and doesn’t require any tools – just some fairly strong thumbs! I had it assembled in about 20 minutes.
It is very light indeed – about half the weight of the NHS chair and I can actually lift it with just a couple of fingers. It’s roughly the same dimensions as the NHS one but with a wider seat base and backrest. The backrest isn’t adjutstable for height and the edge of the patterned finish did dig into my (admittedly very slender) Dad’s back a bit; the adhesive pad did alleviate things a little bit once attached.
You don’t have to attach the padded bits though and I haven’t fitted the one supplied for the seat base. My Dad finds that with the NHS chair, his backside ends up ‘welded’ (his words!) to the PVC padding and since the supplied pad also has a smooth finish, he thought that he’d be best off without it fitted. He was right in that regard and no longer takes the chair with him whenever he gets up from it!
Although the chair is very light, it doesn’t sit with complete stability on the hard bathroom floor, as the rubber feet seem to be a bit ‘off kilter.’ I must stress that once occupied, it’s stable. You can also attach the supplied suction feet and these do work very well on plastic baths or tiled floors. Talking of baths, this chair won’t fit into a standard width bath and you’ll need a ‘P’ shaped shower bath like mine if you want to use it in that way. It’s probably best suited to shower cubicles though.
I haven’t fitted the wall-mounted black-coloured metal grab rail because it’s the wrong colour for my bathroom. However, it seems to be well finshed and comes with good instructions and high-quality fixings.
Overall, this is an excellent package. The main features of this chair are its light weight and dual-function feet and this gives it considerably more versatility compared to the NHS supplied one. As it’s much easier and less cumbersome to move in and out of the bathroom, it results in less dunting of doors and skirting boards, and less painting and decorating for me!

Bought as a gift to my parents and they love it. It’s safe and comfortable for a walk in shower. Thanks good value for the money and easy to assemble. I was amazed as the delivery was great bought from UK Amazon to Madeira (Funchal) so thank you very much.

Fits nicely in the shower which is a limited size and is suitably sturdy. Quite happy with it.

I ordered this narrower shower chair as we have the tiniest bathroom and have always found our old one constantly got in the way. This one is a much better fit and I am very happy with it. It is light, easily moved around yet extremely strong and sturdy. The stool arrived as a flat pack which I easily put together in a matter of a few minutes, no tools were necessary as the pieces just fixed together with a hand tightening large screw type washer, The height is fully adjustable too…although please make sure you count the holes on each leg where the little stud pokes through to make sure they are all the same, I just guess-timated it then couldn’t initially understand why the stool had a slight tilt and rock to it…haha!!
Another useful addition was the free gift included in the package, this is a ‘stick anywhere’ shower head holder.
Overall I think this stool is a well made, strong and durable item which will do the job its intended for and will last for many years. It’s 5 Stars all the way from me!
Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you will find it helpful

Absolutely ideal for someone who has had brain surgery and is quite unsteady on their feet. It is sturdy but doesn’t take up loads of space – adjustable legs are a bit fiddly but not too bad. Would recommend!

I’ve purchased multiple shower stools in the past for my Mum, and they weren’t the greatest, either flimsy, broke, not comfortable etc. This shower stool is perfect, it’s so quick to assemble, very sturdy, the back rest is exactly what we needed, and my Mum just loves it. Highly recommend
