Only just started reading this but very pleased so far.
I think for me, it is good knowing the writer is the same age and similar concerns with walking and exercising.

This book is awesome! I am not a senior, yet I have physical limitations that keep me from exercising at a high exertion level. This book is exactly what I needed, and I am so excited to get started!
I love the way the book is set up…all of the good information, how to tailor a program for yourself,
the visual aids to help you truly understand what parts of your body you are focusing on and why, and all of the exercises explained in such detail, plus examples of attainable goals – I feel ready to tackle my physical health – and in a way that works for me and my current health issues.
Highly recommend!

Safe and Effective Workouts for Seniors: The Definitive Guide for Improving Balance, Strength, Flexibility, and Endurance by Jo Marques is a fantastic resource for anyone who is a senior and looking to get into shape without the dangers of heavy weights or the stress of extreme workouts. The human body is always changing, and so workouts should change along with those changes. The workouts contained here focus on four key areas that will allow the user to enjoy more out of life, feel better, and have more energy. Something that stood out to me about this is that the workouts are tiered so someone who is just beginning can find something to start with while someone who is more advanced can also find new workouts and exercises to try. The author is clearly very knowledgeable on this topic and presents the information is an easy to read and understand format. While this is meant of senior citizens, I can also see this being used for people who are recovering from an injury or coping with a disability.

JoAnn’s personal story at the beginning of the book hooked me right away. While I am not yet a senior, I have watched my mother work very hard to remain strong, and flexible as she moves now, into her 90’s.
I am a fitness enthusiast myself – swimming, yoga, and hiking are my favorites. Having just finished a 200 hour yoga certification program, I can honestly say that the exercises and routines that JoAnn presents are right on target. I can’t help but think that if we younger folks picked up this book before our senior years, we would be way ahead of the game!
This book has everything you need. Laid out nicely and kindly by JoAnn, and enough exercise and variations to keep evolving your fitness program as you grow stronger and ready for more. A very comprehensive and personal book. I Love it.
